VACC GREEN STAMP PLUS ENVIRONMENTAL ACCREDITATION

Bayside and Whitehorse Accident Repair Centres receive first Green Stamp Plus Accreditation in Victoria

VACC is pleased to announce that Bayside Accident Repair Centre and Whitehorse Accident Repair Centre have become the first Green Stamp Plus Accredited businesses in Victoria.

This is a great achievement, especially given that both businesses achieved Level 3 Green Stamp Plus Accreditation, which is the highest level!

Bayside and Whitehorse Accident Repair Centres achieved Level 3 Green Stamp Plus Accreditation because they are dedicated to reducing their environmental footprint. They have introduced practices in the workshop which are less energy intensive, water intensive and chemical intensive.

ARC Manager Chris Sjodin is extremely happy with this achievement as he is passionate about doing the right thing by the environment.

“It started to gain momentum a few years ago when my daughter came home from school and told me about some of the schools environmental initiatives. I thought we could do something similar at work. We wanted to dispose of our waste responsibly and cost effectively. The main objective was to reduce landfill and look at other alternatives to separate and manage all waste.”

Both Accident Repair Centres have implemented an Environmental Management Plan, and have taken other environmental initiatives such as having their carbon footprint measured by external consultants. Instead of using air conditioning to cool the workshop they use fans with mist; thereby reducing their energy bills and their carbon emissions significantly.

The Accident Repair Workshops look to implement environmentally friendly initiatives wherever they can, and also look to reduce and recycle their wastes where possible. A big part of their success however, comes from the dedication of all staff to being environmentally responsible. In this regard environmental consciousness is really a part of the culture at the Accident Repair Centres.

“The employees are all onboard and feel that they are really making a difference”, Chris said.

Chris and the ARC team are continually striving to conduct business in the most sustainable and environmentally responsible way possible. They do this because they see the benefits of doing the right thing by the environment. “We are constantly reviewing our processes to help us reduce our environmental footprint.”

Congratulations Bayside and Whitehorse Accident Repair Centres on this great achievement.
