Consider when purchasing

When purchasing equipment ensure that you save money in the long term.

Do not choose the cheapest product now and pay more every time you use it in the future.

Energy efficiency is an important feature you should look for when purchasing equipment.

Often you will save more energy through purchasing new energy efficient equipment rather than retrofitting old equipment.

Other savings can be made through the design of equipment purchased.

For example when installing a spray booth, have the air pass through the heat system more than once.

This will reduce the amount of energy you need to heat the air, saving you money in running costs.

Consider better alternatives to equipment perhaps an IR panel heater is more suitable than an oven, or a kettle is more suitable than an urn.

It is important that you purchase the right equipment for your needs.

For example there are a range of air compressors that are available but according to Richard Furler from Green Ochre Pty Ltd, VSD oil injected screw compressors are the most energy efficient compressors available.

Energy efficiency is an important management decision; money can be saved by considering energy efficiency before purchasing new equipment or making changes to your workshop.
