The 3 R’s
Have you forgotten the three R’s?
The three R’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle a smart business practice that you should implement for good environmental management.
You can save money by implementing good waste management practices. Perhaps its time you started thinking outside the box, give your staff a challenge to determine new ways of reusing or recycling waste items.
Here are a few ideas you might want to begin with.
- Reduce the amount of waste you dispose of:
- Reduce your bin size
- Only have bin picked up when full
- Negotiate with suppliers, ask them to take back packaging materials
- Order items in bulk to reduce packaging
Reuse your waste and minimise disposal costs. Even if you can not reuse the item perhaps someone else can.
- Send scrap paper and cardboard to the local primary school or kindergarten
- Reuse waste water
- Reuse parts such as headlights and bumper bars
When you can not avoid producing the waste and you have no method for reuse then its time to recycle.
Have the following items collected for recycling:
- Metal
- Plastic
- Oil
- Glass
- Rubber
- Waste solvent
